A Quick Look at the History of Craft Brewing in the US

For many, the growth of craft beer in America is a recent thing. For those long Anheuser-Busch and the like, such as craft beer offerings from the major breweries used to look like a new innovation can be. It is not. Craft beer here in the U.S. is actually a very long history, dating all the way back before the colonial period. Here's a quick look at the country's history a few beers you just how rich our brewing heritage is really to give an idea.

Beer colonies predated

A surprising fact is that many people do not know exactly the first European settlers first beer was being brewed in the U.S. have set foot on North American continent. Quite a few Native American tribes used special concoctions that maize (corn), birch sap from trees and water to make beer was a primitive form.

Colonial Times

An interesting fact about American history that passengers do not land on Plymouth Rock because their destination was decided, but they were running low on beer aboard the ship. From that point on, the puck was a key part of the budding nation. Benjamin Franklin, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson (and the other founding fathers) were beer (mostly alcohol) are big fans of most of them also brewed their own. Both Jefferson and Washington had recently revived his personal beer recipes.

Breweries all across the country opened up. New York State hops and the country needs to become a major center for brewing most of the supplies. Of course, there are hundreds of breweries scattered across the country were progressive.

Prohibition failed to kill on

Prohibition for beer lovers in American history was a dark period. Quite some time (14 years) lasted during that time you had to go to great lengths if you wanted to enjoy a cold brew. However, the love for brewing beer and always has been part of American culture failed to kill.

Prohibition and Repeal of the future

With the repeal of Prohibition, beer was once again available to Americans. Although growth was slower after the prohibition. It took quite some time in those years when the Bears had to make an illegal substance. Now things are looking better. Currently, there are 2,000 craft breweries in the country are starting every day.
