Vintage Gaming: Sonic Adventure

Sonic the Hedgehog has taken a lot of abuse over the past few years, but there was a time when he was one of the most beloved video games. When people talk about the glory days of Sonic, they are usually referring to the 2D Genesis games, but looking for new generations Sonic, which mixes old school gameplay with Sonic 3D, there is, of course, a little love for the new generation of games as well.

For Vintage Gamer this week, I made ​​my goal to find and play a good 3D Sonic game, hoping to stir some excitement for Sonic Generations. Immediately excluding Sonic Unleashed, Sonic the Hedgehog and the 2006 games strange fairy tale that came out for the Wii, I was with Sonic Adventure, originally released for the Sega Dreamcast in 1999, and recently ported to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. I had only casually experienced both Dreamcast and Sonic Adventure when they hit the market, and I was excited to play a game of Sonic that review scores were in the 90 years and was the best-selling Dreamcast game of all time.

Now that I've played throughout the game, I can safely say that I am still playing a good 3D Sonic game, Sonic Adventure is a festering mess, and Sega has managed to pull the wool over the eyes of the players in a way that would make David Copperfield envious .
