Video games here to stay

Video games are here to stay. As the newest form of mainstream entertainment, games have finally reached a level of acceptance of the film is set aside for years.

It is an inevitable by-product of commercial success. During the first 24 hours of its release this month, Modern Warfare 3, the latest release in the Call of Duty franchise, set sales records, making more than $ US400 million in the U.S. and the UK alone.

Gaming has officially arrived and the industry is growing rapidly. Cinema has a long history of innovation and improving the condition that has slowed in recent years. Gaming, on the other hand, is constantly advancing. Every year, exceeded expectations and set new standards. It is an exciting time for the gamer.

Gaming landscape is complex, but the three companies to dictate where it is going to Microsoft, the Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3 and Nintendo's Wii and DS. There has always been competitive, especially with Microsoft and Sony, as they try to take advantage of the same market. Just watch the other major publishers scramble to catch the lucrative idea to be revealed.

The best example of this was Nintendo's Wii, the motion-control console. Nintendo Wii to hit an untapped nerve. Sacrificing processing power of the other consoles of refined motion controls and a comfortable grip, it is directly aimed at casual gamers. Microsoft and Sony soon followed with the Kinect and PlayStation Move respectively. Although the peripheral and sold quite well, do not replicate the phenomenal success of the Wii.

Standing apart from the ongoing struggle to play Goliath, but by no means less important, is the indie developer. While previously there was little market for smaller, self-published games, the Internet and the rise of digital download services like Steam has allowed indie games make a comeback.

Indie games are a boon to the industry, which is easy to attract the beauty of the treatment and follow-up resting on its laurels. Now, creativity, and budgets that allow for experimentation, innovative downloadable games such as Minecraft (which was later sold for more than 4 million copies) has finally ground to support them. Xbox Live and PlayStation Network is currently selling these games, the newer developers have the opportunity to demonstrate projects to a much wider audience and to encourage innovation throughout the industry.

What is the future, who knows what it considers to be? Virtual reality is a goal for many years, and 3D Gaming Headsets, but is not commercially popular than 2D TV there. Increase in the indie developer can be a sign of a back-to-basics approach, and the proliferation of social networking games such as Farmville seems to continue unchanged. It is safe to say that Microsoft and Sony are working, at least up to their popular consoles, and who knows what that can lead to?

What is certain is that gambling is here to stay. Is no longer (only) the domain name to fat-ins, it can only get better.
